What is FFKM?
FFKM (perfluoroelastomer) is the most chemically and thermally resistant elastomer class available. Its fully fluorinated backbone makes it structurally closest to PTFE, giving near-universal resistance — including amines, ketones, esters, steam and strong acids — with fluorine content above 70%.
FFKM vs FKM
| Property | FKM (Viton®) | FFKM |
|---|---|---|
| Fluorine content | ~66–70% | >70%, PTFE-like resistance |
| Temperature range | –20°C to ~200–230°C | –20°C to ~327°C |
| Chemical resistance | Good; limited with strong acids, ketones, steam | Near-universal |
| Cost | Moderate | 10–20× higher; pays off in critical service |
Applications
- Semiconductor and wafer processing
- Pharmaceutical and biotech (FDA / USP Class VI)
- Aerospace and defence — engine seals, hydraulics
- Chemical processing of aggressive media
- Oil & gas refining with hot, corrosive fluids
Why it pays off
Longer service life and fewer replacements cut downtime and total cost of ownership. We help you select the right FFKM grade and supply O-rings, seals and custom molded FFKM shapes to your dimensions.
